Another Great Week of Learning in Room 10!  It has been another great week in Room 10! We have been busy learning, creating, sharing, and getting to know one another. Our classroom has been filled with stories, conversations, hands-on learning, and opportunities to build our independence and sense of community. Language Arts – Words, Sentences and Stories This week, we have been working on developing our reading and writing skills through a variety of meaningful activities. Our Grade 1 students have been practising printing their letters and words legibly using our sky, grass and dirt handwriting language. We have also been listening carefully to words to identify their initial and final sounds . We used these sounds to help us build, write, and label words.   What a Wonderful First Week!  What an amazing first week we have had in our Grade 1/2 classroom! There have been so many smiles, new friendships, exciting discoveries, and opportunities to learn and grow together. We have spent the week getting to know one another, learning our classroom routines, exploring our Montessori environment, and beginning to build the strong sense of community that will guide us throughout the year.  Learning Our Routines & Transitions One of our biggest focuses this week has been learning how our classroom works. We have been practising moving smoothly from one activity to another and learning how to use our Daily Schedule to know what is coming next.   Our Learning in Grade 1 & 2 Montessori It has been a busy and meaningful time of learning in our Grade 1 & 2 Montessori classroom! We continue to celebrate students taking ownership of their learning by guiding lessons, sharing materials, and presenting their own stories and art activities. In the Montessori environment, students learn not only from their teachers but also  from and with one another , inspiring their classmates through their creativity, confidence, and willingness to share. A few students have been inspired to create and share their own books, including  The 29-Story Treehouse  and  Family Separate Day .
