April 22, 2022

 Hello Families,

This week:

We celebrated two birthdays this week in our classroom.

We celebrated Earth day by having asking these 2 questions - "What is my responsibility to Mother Earth?" and " How do I help Mother Earth?" Ask me what my answer was.

We went outside and gave gratitude to Mother Earth for the beautiful snow and moisture. Many students used our trees in the garden as an umbrella to protect them from the snow while others used the snow as a tool to build a structure that would clear a path through the deep snow.

In Physical Education we have been playing cooperative games, learning the fundamentals of skipping, and using the hula hoops in a variety of ways.

In math students were given a challenge of competing mixed addition and subtraction equations and using math vocabulary such as: sum, digits, addition sentence, subtraction sentence, difference,  more than, less than, equal, not equal. This is the most recent game we played today.

            Have a great weekend.
            Kind regards,
            Mrs. Green

Gymnastics

 Gymnastics

We will begin gymnastics in our regularly scheduled gym classes on Monday, April 25th.  The gymnastics unit will last two weeks.  Safety routines, cooperation and sportsmanship are taught and reviewed in each class.

This physical activity opportunity will help students acquire individual skills through a variety of developmentally appropriate movement activities.

It is important for students to come to school prepared for being actively engaged. The following guidelines are very helpful…

HEAD TO TOE - READY TO GO!!!

Head ....................... long hair pulled back

Ears/Throat/Wrist ............... jewellery off

Shirt.................................. one layer shirt

Waist ................................................tucked in

Pants.........................sporty pants or shorts, no belts or zippers

Ankles..........................pants rolled up if ankles are covered

Toes...............running shoes, gymnastic slippers or bare feet (no footed tights)

“Playing & moving safely is everyone’s responsibility”
