Hello Families

Hello families! We had a great start to the school year this week! Students enjoyed getting to know each other and slowly getting back into the routine of school. We learned a lot about classroom routines and materials and are easing into school work. Students were given small and whole group lessons on how to use the Montessori materials as well as they enjoyed some reading time, playing games in the gym, building and Tub Time time on Friday.
Ask your child about a work choice they enjoyed.

Absences
If your child is going to be absent, please make sure to contact the phone via phone or email. I would also appreciate being cc'd on the email so I am kept in the loop!

Shoes
Please make sure your child has clean indoor shoes that they can put on independently to keep at school. Indoor and outdoor shoes need to be appropriate for physical activity as some days we have phys ed outside!

Montessori Birthday Walk Around the Sun
At LBS we like to celebrate students' birthdays with the Montessori Walk Around the Sun. A Google Slide template will be made and shared with you. You will be able to make a copy and add photos and information about your child to share with your classroom teacher. If it is your child's birthday month, you will receive more information from your child's teacher. Birthday treats cannot be shared with the whole class.

Soft Entry

On Tuesday, teachers will be outside to meet students in the morning from 8:00-8:10. Starting on Wednesday morning, we will begin our soft entry in the morning. When students arrive at school they will come in the doors near the garden and will make their way down to the classroom. Doors will be open from 8:00-8:10. Students will be engaged in a morning activity and instructional time will begin at 8:10am. If you are late, please go to the front doors instead.

Placemats
During snack time students will be using placemats in their space as part of our Montessori practical-life learning. Our laminated placemats don't hold out very well so we are asking for a placemat from home if possible. Something simple that can fit in your child's lunch kit is perfect - even a tea towel works! The placemat is meant to travel to and from school each day. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

Mrs. Green
