November 25,

Dear Families,
During our morning circle we listened to beautiful pan flute music, a student shared her drum, another student shared a geode. Students expressed that they enjoy this quiet time because it helps them feel calm and ready to learn.  We read about the buffalo today. The buffalo was key to the survival of many peoples, They were vital to the ecosystem as a major source of food for animals and humans. The buffalo represents respect. It is a positive influence connected with endurance, strength and protection.   We discussed what we thought respect was and why it is important.

We are looking forward to listening to stories from our next Guest reader. Please see calendar below...

During our Daily 5 reading and writing time we self assessed our On the weekend writing  by...

  • re-reading to see if what we have written makes sense
  • used capitals, periods, exclamation marks and spacing
  • used a variety of sentence starters to make our writing more interesting

We read the story Can I Be you Dog?  The author used persuasive writing in letter format to try and convince families to adopt him. Ask me about the story.
 Our new weekly words are....
We are learning to use doubles and doubles plus one as a strategy for addition. We were introduced to some games today to reinforce this strategy.

WE ARE REQUIRING ONE MORE PARENT HELPER IF POSSIBLE FOR THIS THURSDAY MORNINGS ART FELTING. THANK YOU

Have a great evening.
